L’Arche calls people to create relationships of friendship...

To create L’Arche and to welcome and live with those who have been marginalized by our society is a joy and achallenge.  Today, western culture

encourages a person to think first of oneself, to climb the ladder of success, and to surround oneself with many possessions. In contrast, L’Arche calls people to create relationships of friendship withsome of the weaker members of our society and, together, give our energies to the creation of loving homes.  There are lots of questions that may cross many assistants’ minds before they arrive.  Will they like me?  WilI like them?  Will I fit in?  Will I be able to do this?  What good will I be able to do?  Is this going to be good for me?  These are normal and good questions to ask before beginning any new journey.  We invite all who are discerning to come to L’Arche Spokane with the attitude of openness to learning and growing with others.

 

Coming to L'Arche Spokane is an on- going formation towards oneness with self and the community as an expression of our deep longing for God as the source of love and communion.
